Russ infected himself with the music bug whilst still at school playing and perfecting various instruments in a variety of bands and as a teenager started experimenting with home made recording devices made from old Amstrad hi-fi gear and double sided sticky tape!

As a performing musician he became tired of suffering at the hands of many a charlatan sound engineer and so made it his business to perfect the art for himself, quickly becoming the preferred engineer to all the Northamptonshire bands, both as live and studio engineer. Needless to say Russ became even more comfortable and well suited to the discipline of the studio than on the road and was soon engineering for various known producers and international acts. Having always been a fountain of inspiration the role of producer was the next natural step, one which came quickly and easily.

In the last 10 years Russ has played a variety of roles to a wide range of bands Producing studio recordings with The Wildhearts, Napalm Death, The Exploited and The Ga-Ga's, waxing live recordings with Dimmu Borgir and Space Ritual and co-producing, engineering & mixing SiKth, Meathook Seed, Amorphis and Defenestration among countless others. Being a black belt in Protools, Russ' editing skills are also often called upon, more recently on the latest New Model Army album. Mixing traditional recording techniques with the flexibility of modern digital manipulation, Russ's ability to present dynamically complicated recordings has landed him great favour with metal & hard rock acts alike finding space within the chaos but Russ has also savoured sessions with Orchestra's and Indie Pop bands too.

Russ has recently finished Producing the latest album by Napalm Death ‘Smear Campaign’ received with glowing praise across all heavy rock media. He's also recently been in the studio Producing Marla Singer and The Mono Effect, mixing The Liarslake and has recently completed a co-production with Chris Tsangarides on new Brtish Metal upstarts Lynchpin.
